MedAcuity’s Tom Amlicke to Present on Critical Architecture Decisions for Robotic Solutions at the Healthcare Robotics Engineering Forum

WHO: Tom Amlicke, software architect & robotics systems engineer at MedAcuity, the go-to Boston-based software development partner for leading MedTech and Robotics companies. Tom has over twenty years of embedded and application-level development experience. He has designed and deployed enterprise, embedded, and mobile solutions on Windows, Mac, iOS, and Linux/UNIX platforms using a variety of languages including C++. Tom has been in a lead role on multiple robotics projects, overseeing end-to-end development of ROS-based mobile robots and surgical robots.

WHAT: The Healthcare Robotics Engineering Forum provides engineers, engineering management, and business professionals with informed guidance, peer networking opportunities, and hands-on access to the latest robotics enabling technologies, with the goal of speeding and improving the processes employed when designing, developing and manufacturing the next generation of commercial class healthcare robotics solutions.

Successful robotic development projects—those that launch on-time and within budget—require making critical build or buy decisions right up front.
– Can you buy something that implements 80% of your requirements?
– Can you select a tool or framework to match your teams’ skill sets or make it easier to grow your development team?
– Can you reliably make informed tradeoffs between the options available?
– What are the architectural qualities important to your robotic solution?

In robotics development projects, how you prioritize these decisions can ensure that your architectural design efforts will have the most beneficial impact in a timely fashion.

Tom’s session, “Build It or Buy It? Critical Architecture Decisions for your Robotic Solution,” will explore the key decisions that development teams must address to create architectures that will ensure a robot will meet requirements, reduce risk, function as intended, and be delivered on time and on budget. Tom will discuss what drives build or buy decisions; architecture considerations and high-level robot logical architecture diagrams; and tools to communicate architecture to stakeholders.

WHEN: Tom’s session will be held on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 | 3:00 – 3:45 PM ET. The Healthcare Robotics Engineering Forum will take place May 10-12, 2022.

WHERE:  Boston Convention and Exhibition Center in Boston, MA. Register here.
